Royal Doulton was born in 1815 when John Doulton purchased a share of a London pottery. At that time in mainly produced household stoneware items. Half a century later the company moved to Stoke on Trent and started to manufacture china tableware. At the turn of the 20th Century it was granted Royal Appointment and became Royal Doulton.
It has perhaps been one of, not just the UK's, the the world's most prolific premium tableware manufacturers. It is best known for it's high quality and elegant designs.
