Royal Doulton Platinum has a very practical, modern look, with clean white shapes and a platinum-coloured triangular or geometric band around the rim. The design is simple, bold and quite different from Royal Doulton's more traditional floral tableware patterns.
The weight and styling give Platinum something of a hospitality or catering-ware feel, although the pieces we have seen are not necessarily backstamped as hotelware. It is best described carefully as a robust tableware design with a smart metallic-style border, rather than assuming a commercial use without evidence from the mark.
When matching Platinum, the white body, heavier feel, platinum-coloured geometric band, shape and backstamp are the main details to compare. It should not be confused with Platinum Concord or Signature Platinum, which are separate Royal Doulton patterns.
Platinum replacements are likely to be very piece-specific, especially where someone has a small set or a particular teapot, cup or serving item to replace. The simple design means shape, weight and border layout matter as much as the colour itself.
At MrPottery we list Royal Doulton Platinum pieces with clear product details and condition grading, helping you choose the piece that best matches your existing tableware.
