Poole Pottery "Twintone - Sepia & Mushroom (C54)"

Poole Pottery Twintone Sepia & Mushroom C54
Poole Pottery Twintone Sepia & Mushroom (C54) is one of the four early Twintone designs, initially produced pre-war and then restarted after wartime restrictions on the use of colour were lifted. Alongside it's close relative Ice Green & Seagull it is one of Poole's longest running designs, finally ceasing production in 1981. The inside of the pieces, lid handles and accents are usually in the darker sepia brown, while the outside of pieces feature a lighter, creamier mushroom colour. The pattern code is C54. The shape of the pieces changed over the years, with early Twintone being issued on the Streamline shape and the Contour shape being introduced to the range in the 1960s. Due to the long lifespan of the design, there is a huge variety of pieces to collect.
