Poole Pottery Twintone Sepia & Mushroom C54 is one of the best known and longest running designs from Poole’s Twintone range. It was first introduced before the Second World War, then resumed after wartime restrictions on the use of colour were lifted, remaining in production until 1981.

The colour pairing is understated but very distinctive. Sepia, the deeper brown glaze, is usually found on interiors, lid knobs, handles and accent details, while Mushroom provides the softer, lighter outer glaze on many pieces. This balance of warm brown and creamy neutral colour gives the range a calm, elegant look that sits easily with both earlier and later Poole tableware.

Because Sepia & Mushroom was produced for such a long period, it can be found on a wide variety of shapes. Earlier pieces are often associated with Streamline forms, while later production includes Contour and other shapes introduced as Poole’s tableware developed. This long production life makes the range especially rewarding to collect, but it also means that shape and period can matter when matching pieces.

Customers looking for Poole Pottery Twintone Sepia & Mushroom C54 replacement china are often trying to replace a broken cup, saucer, plate, bowl, lid, jug or serving piece, complete a part service, or build on an existing Twintone collection. Availability can vary, as our stock depends on what becomes available through the pre-loved market.

When matching Sepia & Mushroom, check the pattern code, shape, glaze placement and tone carefully. Over its long production run, pieces may vary in form, depth of colour and glaze character, which is part of the appeal of this enduring Poole Twintone design.
