Poole Pottery Honeydew (Gloss) is one of Poole’s plainer glazed tableware designs, believed to date from around the 1950s. Reliable published information about the range appears to be limited, so we avoid giving a firm introduction date unless a catalogue reference comes to light.

The design features a warm honey-yellow glaze contrasted with white interiors and edging on many pieces. The simple colour treatment allows the shapes to do much of the work, giving the range a clean, practical mid-century feel.

Honeydew was produced on shapes familiar from Poole’s Twintone period, including cups, saucers, plates, jugs and serving pieces. This page refers to the glossy version, which has a brighter, more reflective surface than the related Poole Honeydew matt version.

When matching Honeydew, it is worth checking both the finish and the shape. The gloss and matt versions can look quite different alongside one another, and Poole’s long production history means small shape variations may also occur.

For many customers, Honeydew is a pattern they are trying to keep in regular use. As a discontinued Poole range, it is often sought out by those looking to replace a broken cup, find a missing saucer, or add useful plates and serving pieces to an existing set.

Availability depends entirely on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Honeydew is not one of the Poole ranges we see every day, so individual pieces may only appear from time to time.
