Poole Pottery Blue Leaf was introduced in 1994 and was designed by Anita Harris, whose work helped define Poole’s later hand-decorated tableware style. The design uses blue leaf motifs against a white background, with sponged decoration and a softly irregular blue rim adding to its handmade character.

Blue Leaf is closely related in feel to Poole Pottery Blue Vine, another Anita Harris design from the same period. The two patterns share a similar blue and white palette, but Blue Leaf has a cleaner, more open look, with less of the blue clouded background effect and without the grape detail found on Blue Vine.

The decoration is typical of Poole’s 1990s interest in informal, design-led tableware, using sponge and hand-painted techniques to create pieces that feel relaxed and individual. Subtle differences in the density of the blue decoration, rim detail and painted leaf work are part of the pattern’s character.

As Blue Leaf is now discontinued, availability depends on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Cups, saucers, plates and serving pieces may vary in availability, so it remains a useful pattern for customers looking to replace missing pieces or extend an existing Poole service.
