Denby Tivoli was introduced in the early 1990s as part of Denby’s Columbia Series, a range of shapes designed by Richard Eaton. Replacement china sources generally date Tivoli to around 1990 to 1994, making it a relatively short-lived Denby pattern.
The design features a soft floral decoration in pastel shades, set against a creamy or pinky-white background. Blue edging and pale peach tones add gentle contrast, giving the range a light, decorative feel that is quite different from Denby’s heavier rustic glazes.
Tivoli sits within the same Columbia Series family as Denby Mandarin, Parisienne and Saville Grey, all sharing the same underlying shapes but with different decorative treatments.
As a now discontinued pattern, Denby Tivoli can be harder to find than some of Denby’s longer-running ranges. Availability varies depending on the piece, as supply is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
When matching Denby Tivoli, it is worth noting that slight variations can occur in the tone of the background glaze and the intensity of the floral decoration. These subtle differences are typical of decorated stoneware from this period and sit comfortably within the overall look of the pattern.
