Denby Sundance was introduced in 1983/84 as part of Denby Pottery’s Artisan Collection and was designed by Thelma Hague. It was released alongside the popular Denby Midnight pattern, with Denby Reflections following shortly after in 1985.
The design features a distinctive stylised floral motif, often resembling a sunburst or daisy form, set against a softly speckled stoneware background. Gentle tones of green and warm ochre give Sundance a light, decorative feel, while still retaining the durability and practicality associated with Denby’s stoneware.
Sundance had a relatively short production run compared to some of its Artisan Collection counterparts, which makes it less commonly seen today. As a result, availability can be limited, with certain pieces appearing only occasionally on the pre-loved market.
In recent years, Denby Sundance has attracted growing interest from collectors, particularly those drawn to Thelma Hague’s more decorative designs. For those looking to replace or extend a set, it offers a charming and characterful addition to any Denby collection.
