Denby Summerfields was introduced as part of Denby’s Sherwood Collection and designed by Thelma Hague, one of Denby’s most influential designers of the period. Compared to other Sherwood designs such as Denby Daybreak and Denby Blue Dawn, Summerfields had a relatively short production run, making it less commonly seen today.
The design features a soft, speckled stoneware base with a gentle pink-toned rim, brought to life by a flowing arrangement of small, brightly coloured flowers. The floral motif forms a loose garland across the surface, giving the pattern a lighter and more decorative feel than many of Denby’s bolder designs of the same era.
Because of its shorter run, availability of Denby Summerfields can be limited, with certain pieces appearing only occasionally on the pre-loved market. While it may not be one of the most widely requested patterns, it is very much appreciated by those who own it for its charm and softer aesthetic.
For those looking to replace or extend an existing set, Denby Summerfields offers a distinctive alternative within the Sherwood range, combining familiar shapes with a more delicate and colourful decorative style.
