Denby Spring was introduced around 1954, combining shapes originally developed by Albert Colledge for earlier ranges such as Peasant Ware with a decorative design by Glyn Colledge. The pattern features a delicate stylised leaf and bud motif set against a soft white background, typically finished with a subtle grey trim and exterior.
Earlier pieces, produced prior to 1956, often carry the Bourne backstamp and can include a slightly wider variety of shapes, some of which are now rarely seen. These early examples are particularly sought after by collectors.
While most commonly found in its white and grey form, Denby Spring was also produced in alternative colourways, including teal and green versions. These are less frequently encountered and were largely produced for export, particularly to the United States.
As a now discontinued and relatively scarce pattern, Denby Spring is sought after by those looking for replacement china to complete or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as supply is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
