Denby Regency Green was introduced in 1989 as part of Denby’s Sherwood Collection, produced on the same underlying shape as its well-known counterparts Denby Imperial Blue and Denby Colonial Blue. While closely related, Regency Green offered a distinctive alternative through its use of rich green tones.
The design features a deep, glossy green glaze applied to the exterior of pieces and the rims of flatware, contrasted with clean white interiors. This combination creates a strong yet balanced look, retaining the practicality of Denby stoneware while offering a slightly more contemporary feel compared to earlier ranges.
As part of the Sherwood Collection, Regency Green reflects a subtle evolution in Denby’s shapes during the late 1980s, with slightly refined profiles and a more modern overall appearance. The range was produced over a number of years and included a full service of tableware and serving pieces.
While much of the pattern has now been discontinued, certain pieces have remained in production for longer periods, making Regency Green one of the more accessible Denby designs to both replace and extend. This overlap between new and discontinued pieces has helped maintain its popularity over time.
Today, Denby Regency Green continues to be sought after by those looking to complete or expand their set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as stock depends on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
When matching Denby Regency Green, it is worth noting that variations can occur in the depth of the green glaze and the tone of the finish. These subtle differences are typical of Denby’s production methods and sit comfortably within the overall look of the pattern.
