Denby Lorraine is part of Denby Pottery’s Renaissance Collection, first introduced in 1975. Within the collection, most designs such as Castile in blue, Seville in brown and Venice in green featured simple border decoration, while Lorraine and Avignon were the only fully patterned designs.
The pattern features a centralised botanical spray, incorporating delicate blue flowers, fine foliage and a distinctive butterfly motif in soft purple tones. This arrangement is typically set within a subtle banded border, allowing the decoration to remain the focal point of each piece.
Produced on the Renaissance shapes, the range includes a variety of tableware and serving pieces, with gently curved forms that complement the flowing, natural style of the design. Other patterns from the same collection, such as Denby Castile, share the same shapes while offering a more restrained decorative style.
As a discontinued design, Denby Lorraine is often sought after by those looking to complete or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as supply is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
