The Renaissance Collection represented a move towards more refined and elegant stoneware, combining the strength of Denby with shapes and detailing more commonly associated with fine china.
Produced on distinctive, softly curving forms with a gentle goblet-like profile, Castile features a striking blue and white glaze accented with subtle rouletted detailing. The flowing concave and convex lines of the shapes give the service a lighter and more decorative feel than earlier Denby ranges.
Castile was released alongside complementary designs including Seville in brown tones and Venice in green, all sharing the same underlying shapes but differing in colourway. Of these, Castile proved to be the most popular and enduring, thanks to its crisp blue palette and strong visual appeal.
Originally produced in a wide range of tableware and serving pieces, Denby Castile was designed to offer both style and practicality, retaining the durability for which Denby pottery is well known while introducing a more decorative edge.
As a now discontinued pattern, Denby Castile remains sought after by collectors and those looking for replacement china to complete or extend their existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as supply is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
We regularly source Denby Castile from the pre-loved market, so availability changes frequently.
