Denby Greystone forms part of Denby’s Artisan Collection, which included a mix of patterned and plain designs. Greystone was the first of the plain ranges to be introduced in 1983 and remained in production until the mid-1990s, reflecting its popularity and versatility.
The design is characterised by its clean white glaze, offering a simple and adaptable base that works well as a standalone set or combined with other Artisan designs. It is closely related to patterns such as Denby Camelot and Denby Pampas, which share similar forms and sit within the same broader design family.
Produced during a time of evolving manufacturing processes, Greystone can be found with subtle variations. Some upright pieces, such as cups, jugs and serving ware, appear both with and without the characteristic ring detailing also seen on Camelot and Pampas, adding an extra point of interest for collectors and those looking to match existing items.
Because of its neutral appearance, Greystone proved to be a practical choice for everyday use and was produced across a wide range of items, from standard tableware through to serving pieces.
One characteristic of the range is that the white glaze can be more prone to showing cutlery marks than darker Denby designs. As a result, plates and bowls are often more difficult to find in very good or excellent condition, which can be an important consideration when matching existing pieces.
As a discontinued Denby pattern, Greystone remains sought after by those looking to replace or extend their existing set. Availability can vary depending on the item, particularly for pieces in better condition, as supply is dependent on what becomes available on the pre-loved market.
We regularly source Denby Greystone from the pre-loved market, so availability changes frequently.
