Royal Crown Derby Imari Traditional (2451) wurde erstmals 1887 eingeführt und basierte auf einem früheren Muster (877) aus dem Jahr 1880. Wie das gesamte Imari-Sortiment, das manchmal auch als „Japanware“ bezeichnet wird, wurde Traditional Imari von Mustern beeinflusst, die erstmals beschafft wurden vom Hafen von Imari auf einer kleinen japanischen Insel namens Kyushu. Obwohl Royal Crown Derby weder der Urheber noch der einzige Hersteller des Imari-Musters war, wurden sie sicherlich zu den berühmtesten und ihr Name ist heute ein Synonym für diese exquisite Serie, die Kobaltblau, Derby-Rot und brüniertes 22-Karat-Gold umfasst.
