Ridgway Potteries "Homemaker"

Ridgway Homemaker is one of the most distinctive British tableware designs of the post-war period. Designed by Enid Seeney for Ridgway Potteries, it uses a busy black and white pattern of contemporary chairs, tables, plant stands, utensils, household objects and loose scribbled lines, giving it a very recognisable 1950s modern look.

The pattern was sold through Woolworths, which helped bring modern design into everyday homes at an affordable price. Although it was made as practical earthenware rather than fine bone china, Homemaker has since become a favourite with collectors of mid-century ceramics and British design.
