Poole Pottery English Orchard was introduced as a follow-on fruit design after the discontinuation of Poole Dorset Fruit. It kept the cheerful fruit theme and relaxed tableware feel, but used a simpler, more open style of decoration with individual fruits such as apples, pears and plums.

The pattern has a fresh white ground, blue rim detail and leafy green border decoration, with fruit motifs placed centrally on plates and bowls or used as the main decoration on cups and serving pieces. Compared with Dorset Fruit, English Orchard has a cleaner and less sponged appearance, making the fruit designs stand out more clearly.

Although English Orchard was introduced as an alternative to Dorset Fruit, many customers continued to prefer the original, and English Orchard had a comparatively short production life. This makes it less commonly found today, although it remains collected in its own right.

For many customers, English Orchard is a pattern they are trying to keep in regular use, either as a service of its own or mixed with Dorset Fruit. Some Dorset Fruit collectors also add the occasional English Orchard piece where the colours and country fruit theme sit comfortably together.

Availability depends entirely on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Because English Orchard was not produced for as long as Dorset Fruit, specific pieces and fruit variations may only appear from time to time.
