Marks & Spencer "Fruit Orchard"

Marks & Spencer Fruit Orchard is a distinctive fruit design which combines naturalistic fruit and foliage with a series of decorative geometric borders. Large, warmly coloured fruits, including lemons, hang from leafy branches against a white ground, while bands of turquoise blue, soft yellow and fine brown provide an attractive contrast.

One of the most recognisable features of Fruit Orchard is the variety of decoration used within the borders. Turquoise trellis work, small dots and narrow coloured lines give the pattern a more structured appearance than many traditional fruit designs, while the fruit and leaves soften the overall effect and give it a fresh, country kitchen feel.

The decoration adapts particularly well to the different shapes within the range. On rounded pieces such as the teapot, milk jug and lidded sugar bowl, the fruit and foliage wrap naturally around the body while the geometric bands follow the contours of the piece. Plates, bowls and tea wares carry the same combination of fruit and patterned borders, creating a coordinated but visually varied service.

Fruit Orchard was produced across a useful selection of table and tea ware, with known pieces including plates, bowls, tea cups and saucers, a teapot, milk jug and lidded sugar bowl. This makes it a practical range to continue using, although individual pieces can now be increasingly difficult to find.

As Marks & Spencer Fruit Orchard is discontinued, replacement pieces are generally found through the pre-loved market. At MrPottery we organise our available stock by piece and condition to help you find the closest match for your existing service.
