Hornsea Stripes / Kitchen Things is the name we use for Hornsea kitchenware listed as Stripes in reference sources, but also often referred to by collectors as Kitchen Things. The design uses strong vertical coloured lines, usually in blue, green, red or yellow, with practical item names printed in clear lettering.

The pattern has a cheerful, late-Hornsea kitchen feel, much more direct and graphic than the company’s earlier textured tableware. It works especially well on storage jars and jugs, where the colour and lettering make the pieces both decorative and useful.

Pieces do not appear to have been produced in especially large quantities, and clear examples can be harder to find than the better-known Hornsea tableware ranges. The glaze can also be prone to crazing, so condition is particularly important when matching or adding to a set.

As a discontinued Hornsea Pottery range, Stripes / Kitchen Things is now mainly found through the pre-loved market and is often sought by customers looking for replacement china to complete, extend or match an existing kitchen set. Availability can vary by colour, wording and shape.

When matching Hornsea Stripes / Kitchen Things replacement pieces, look for the vertical coloured stripe design, bold printed kitchen wording and Hornsea Pottery backstamp. At MrPottery, pieces are checked carefully before listing, and we do not sell crazed items.
