Woods "Beryl Ware"
Wood's Beryl Ware or Berylware as it's often spelt, is an iconic tableware design first issued in the 1940s. Due to wartime restrictions in colours, Wood & Sons relied on clean shapes and ribbed bands to create an appealing economic table and utility ware which could be mass produced. Made for a number of years a very large variety of pieces are now available to collect. Beryl Ware proved to be hugely popular not just amongst domestic homes but in village halls, school canteens and hospitals throughout the UK.
