Poole Pottery "Wimborne"

Poole Pottery Wimborne is a distinctive design from Robert Jefferson’s Compact tableware range. It features a creamy green-yellow ground with a dark green flecked finish and olive-toned banding, giving it a wonderfully earthy, almost wholegrain mustard character.

Poole Pottery Wimborne is one of the less commonly seen designs produced on Robert Jefferson’s Compact shape. Rather than using a pictorial or floral motif, Wimborne relies on glaze, texture and tone, with a softly speckled cream-green body contrasted by darker green banding around cups, saucers and other pieces.
The Compact range was an important part of Poole’s move towards modern tableware during the 1960s and later decades, offering practical shapes with a cleaner, more contemporary feel. Wimborne sits neatly within that tradition, understated but full of period character, and especially appealing to collectors who enjoy Poole’s quieter, glaze-led designs.
Wimborne does not appear as often as some of the better-known Compact patterns, so individual pieces can be quite hard to come by. As with many discontinued Poole Pottery ranges, availability depends on what becomes available in the pre-loved market, particularly for cups, saucers, plates and serving pieces.
