Poole Pottery Wild Garden belongs to the softer floral side of Poole’s late 1970s and early 1980s tableware output. Designed by Elaine Williamson, it has a light, informal feel, with small red, blue, orange, purple and yellow flowers arranged among fine green stems and foliage. The little birds near the upper edge of the design give the pattern an especially charming, garden-like character.
Wild Garden was produced on the same shape family as popular Poole designs such as Poole Pottery Springtime and Poole Pottery Summer Glory, giving it a familiar Poole feel while offering a more open and delicate decorative style. The shaped rims and soft cream glaze suit the winding floral border particularly well.
Although less widely seen than Springtime or Summer Glory, Wild Garden is a lovely pattern for collectors who enjoy Poole’s gentler floral designs. As with many discontinued Poole Pottery ranges, availability varies by piece, with plates, bowls, teaware and serving items appearing as and when they become available in the pre-loved market.
