Poole Pottery Stoneware Plates & Plaques is a useful heading for several decorative series produced by Poole in the late 1970s and early 1980s, many of them designed by Barbara Linley Adams. Rather than a single tableware pattern, this group includes small stoneware dishes, larger limited edition plates and wall plaques featuring birds, animals, seasonal subjects and natural history themes.

One of the best-known groups is the Wildlife Collection of small stoneware dishes, issued from around 1982 to 1984. These 5 inch plates featured subjects such as New Forest animals, birds, mice, cats, wild animals and dogs, with detailed line work and soft tonal decoration that gives them a distinctive handcrafted character.

Larger limited edition plates were also produced, including bird and animal subjects, Christmas plates and Mother’s Day plates. Poole also issued The Four Seasons wall plaques, a decorative series that continued the natural world theme and reflected the popularity of Barbara Linley Adams’ wildlife work before her retirement in 1983.

Customers looking for Poole Pottery Stoneware Plates & Plaques are often collectors searching for a particular animal, bird, year or limited edition design, or trying to complete a small themed group. Availability can vary, as our stock depends on what becomes available through the pre-loved market.

When matching or collecting these pieces, it is worth checking the subject, size, date, shape and whether the piece forms part of a named series. The designs can look similar at first glance, but the individual subjects and issue details are often what make each plate or plaque especially interesting.
