Poole Pottery "Lucullus"

Poole Pottery Lucullus was launched in 1962 and was designed by Robert Jefferson. It was produced as an oven-to-tableware range, using the Blue Moon base with its deep blue-green exterior glaze and white interior, then adding decorative lids with a lively vegetable motif.

The design features stylised vegetables and leaves in a graphic mid-century style, set against white lids and paired with the richly glazed Blue Moon bodies. This makes Lucullus feel both practical and decorative, with the plain glazed base providing a strong contrast to the patterned cover.

Lucullus was not a full dinner service in the usual sense, but rather a complementary oven-to-tableware range. For that reason, it is often collected alongside Blue Moon, and works particularly well for customers building or extending a Blue Moon service.

As a discontinued Poole range, Lucullus is now sought after by those looking for replacement oven-to-table pieces, matching lids, or decorative serving items from this distinctive early 1960s design. Some customers collect it in its own right, while others use it as a companion range to Blue Moon.

Availability depends entirely on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Because Lucullus was a more specialist range, individual pieces and especially matching lids may only appear from time to time.
