Poole Pottery Lakestone

Poole Pottery Lakestone is a discontinued Poole tableware range produced on the Compact shape. It has a lightly flecked cream-stone background with a milk chocolate brown rim, and is sometimes confused with the related Parkstone and Broadstone ranges.

Poole Pottery Lakestone was produced on Poole’s Compact shape, with its familiar ribbed edging, practical forms and strong mid-century feel. It is one of the plainer background ranges from the Compact family, and was also used as the base for decorated patterns such as Melbury and Mayflower.

Lakestone has a softly flecked cream-stone glaze with a milk chocolate brown rim. It is generally lighter and less heavily flecked than Parkstone, while lacking the warmer yellowish tone associated with Broadstone. This makes it a subtle but attractive design in its own right, particularly for customers who prefer a quieter table setting.

IMPORTANT: Lakestone is sometimes confused with Poole Broadstone and Poole Parkstone. If your pattern has a yellowish background, it is probably Broadstone. If it has a heavier stoneware-style background with a dark chocolate brown rim, it is probably Parkstone. If it is lightly flecked with a milk chocolate brown rim, it is more likely to be Lakestone.

Very few customers have Lakestone compared with Broadstone and Parkstone, so if you are unsure which version you need, it is always worth checking carefully before ordering.

For many customers, Lakestone is a pattern they are trying to keep in regular use. As a discontinued Poole range, it is often sought out by those looking to replace a broken plate, find a missing bowl, or add useful serving pieces to an existing set.

Availability depends entirely on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Because Lakestone is less commonly seen than some related Compact ranges, individual pieces may only appear from time to time.
