Poole Pottery Figures - White Glaze brings together a group of fine bone china bird and animal figures produced by Poole Pottery during 1985 and 1986. The range included designs by Barbara Linley Adams and others, with the models finished in white glaze and often given gold painted eyes.

These figures have a different character from Poole’s earlier earthenware animals. The fine bone china body gives them a cleaner, lighter look, while the plain white glaze allows the modelling to take centre stage. The gold eyes add a small but distinctive detail, particularly on birds and smaller animal subjects.

Barbara Linley Adams is especially associated with Poole’s animal figures, and her work forms an important part of the factory’s later decorative history. The White Glaze figures sit within that wider tradition of Poole animal modelling, but their short production period gives them a more defined identity as a collectible group.

For many customers, these figures are collected individually as decorative Poole pieces. Some look for a particular bird or animal model, while others enjoy building a varied group of white glazed figures over time.

As these pieces are now discontinued, availability depends entirely on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Although they were only produced for a short time, they do appear fairly regularly, but individual animals and larger models can still be more difficult to find.
