Poole Pottery Cranborne is one of Poole’s best liked later tableware patterns, with a bright fruiting border design of berries, cherries and curling blue-green foliage. The decoration sits around the rim of plates and bowls, and is repeated on smaller pieces such as cups, sugar bowls, vases and serving ware.

Cranborne has a cheerful country kitchen feel, decorative but still very usable. The white background keeps the design fresh, while the red, purple, blue and green tones give it enough colour to feel lively on the table without becoming too heavy.

The range was produced across a wide selection of dinner ware, tea ware and coffee ware, and was also supported by a substantial oven-to-tableware range. This makes Cranborne one of the more practical Poole patterns for customers who want a coordinated service rather than just a few individual pieces.

Poole promotional material from the later period shows Cranborne as one of the patterns used on the factory’s oven ware range, which helped extend popular tableware designs into casseroles, dishes and other useful kitchen pieces. This makes it particularly appealing for customers who enjoy both table setting and serving pieces in the same pattern.

For many customers, Cranborne is a pattern they are trying to keep in regular use. As a discontinued Poole range, it is often sought out by those looking to replace a broken plate, find a missing cup and saucer, or add useful oven-to-table pieces to an existing set.

Availability depends entirely on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. Cranborne was popular, but heavily used pieces such as dinner plates, bowls and oven ware can still be sought after, especially by customers trying to keep a full service together.
