Poole Pottery "Bamboo"

Poole Pottery Bamboo

Poole Pottery Bamboo is our working name for this modern bamboo design on a warm cream glaze. With its simple stems, soft pink leaves and oriental-style character marks, it has a calm, decorative look that sits a little apart from many better known Poole tableware patterns.

Poole Pottery Bamboo is the name we currently use for this attractive bamboo design, although we have not yet been able to confirm whether this was the official Poole pattern name. The design features slender bamboo canes with soft pink leaves, set against a warm rustic cream glaze.

The decoration has a quiet, modern oriental feel, with the bamboo motif placed to one side of the pieces rather than covering the whole surface. This gives the pattern a simple, uncluttered appearance, while the glaze adds warmth and depth to the background.

Poole produced a wide variety of decorative and tableware designs in the later 20th century, including some shorter-run and less frequently seen patterns. Bamboo appears to belong to this more design-led side of Poole’s output, where individual motifs and surface decoration were used to give each range a distinctive character.

As this is a discontinued Poole design, availability depends on what becomes available through the pre-loved market. If you recognise this pattern and know its correct Poole name, or have an original catalogue reference, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
