M & S "Lombard"

M & S Lombard was sold by Marks & Spencer and has a bold, contemporary look. The design is based around a wide dark blue speckled band on white china, giving the range impact without using a floral or pictorial motif.

Lombard is a good example of the simpler modern M&S tableware styles, where colour, border width and surface texture do most of the design work. The speckled blue band is the key feature to compare when matching pieces.

Pieces found in this pattern include mugs and bowls. When replacing part of a set, check the depth of the blue band, the white ground and the shape of the piece, as plain modern designs can look similar until compared closely.

As M & S Lombard is discontinued tableware, replacement pieces are usually found through the pre-loved market. Availability can vary, but individual mugs, bowls and related pieces are useful for completing a set, extending an everyday service or matching a favourite Marks & Spencer pattern.
