Johnson Bros "Patio (Blue)"

Johnson Bros Patio Blue

Johnson Brothers Patio Blue is a bold speckled design produced in the 1970s, featuring blue specks on a pale ground with a simple blue trim. Often compared with Midwinter Creation, it has a clean, modern stoneware look that feels very much of its period.

Johnson Brothers Patio Blue was produced during the 1970s and is recorded in the Johnson Brothers book as part of the Patio range, which was made in both blue and brown versions. The blue version features a pale speckled ground, darker scattered flecks and a blue edge, giving it a simple, practical and slightly rustic appearance.

For customers looking to replace a dinner plate, add extra bowls, or build up a small everyday service, Patio Blue is a useful discontinued Johnson Brothers pattern. Its speckled finish makes it easy to recognise, although it can sometimes be confused with other period stoneware designs, including Midwinter Creation.

Patio Brown appears to be a separate Patio colourway rather than simply another name for Johnson Brothers Lifestyle, although the two can look similar at a glance because both use a speckled ground and darker trim. Shape, backstamp, rim colour and overall finish are worth checking carefully when matching pieces.

As with many discontinued Johnson Brothers ranges, availability varies by piece. If you are trying to complete, extend or carefully match an existing Patio Blue set, please check our current stock regularly as individual pre-loved pieces become available.
