Johnson Bros "Eternal Beau"

Johnson Bros Eternal Beau

Johnson Brothers Eternal Beau is one of the best known and most widely collected Johnson Brothers designs. Designed by Sarina Mascheroni, it features a soft ribbon and floral motif on the distinctive Heritage shape, with a cream ground, fine green trim and a gentle country style that became instantly recognisable.

Johnson Brothers Eternal Beau was introduced in the early 1980s and became one of the company’s most successful and familiar tableware patterns. Its combination of octagonal shapes, softly moulded edges, green line detail and delicate ribboned floral decoration made it hugely popular for everyday dining, tea ware and display pieces.

For customers looking to replace a broken dinner plate, add extra bowls, find a missing teapot lid, or build up a larger family service, Eternal Beau is one of the most practical discontinued Johnson Brothers patterns to collect. A very wide range of pieces was made, from standard tableware through to serving ware, giftware and matching household accessories, although availability still varies considerably by item.

The design was used far beyond dinner plates and cups, with matching or related pieces appearing across glassware, cutlery, textiles, clocks, electrical items and even wallpaper. This made Eternal Beau more than just a tableware pattern; for many homes it became a full kitchen and dining room look. We have written more about the history and popularity of the range in our Johnson Brothers Eternal Beau pattern focus article.

As with all discontinued tableware, matching can depend on the exact piece, age and backstamp. If you are trying to complete, extend or carefully match an existing Eternal Beau set, it is worth checking our current stock regularly as individual pre-loved pieces become available.
