This is an early transferware commemorative mug produced by Royal Doulton to mark the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1902. Originally planned for June 1902, the coronation was postponed until August due to the King’s ill health, meaning many pieces, including this example, were produced bearing the earlier date. While this does not make it rarer, it does place the mug firmly within the original wave of commemorative production. As a genuine antique piece of Royal Doulton commemorative ware, it offers both historical interest and enduring decorative appeal.
