Denby Unknown Pattern 05a (Turquoise, Manor Green shape) appears to have been produced on the same well known shape used for popular mid-century designs such as Manor Green, Homestead Brown and Cottage Blue, placing it within one of Denby Pottery’s most recognisable and enduring design families.

What sets this example apart is its striking celeste or turquoise glaze, which is notably brighter and cleaner in tone than the more muted colours typically associated with these ranges. The interior is finished in white, consistent with other designs produced on this shape.

Interestingly, pieces in this finish are most often encountered as coffee pots, which may suggest a limited production run, a specialist commission, or a colourway that was not developed into a full tableware range.

As with many lesser documented Denby designs, availability is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market, and pieces can be particularly hard to find.

Do you know the name of this design? It is on the same shape as Manor Green but the colouring is more celeste or turquoise. If you do happen to know its name we would love to hear from you!

These rarer variations offer a fascinating insight into Denby’s production history and are especially appealing to collectors looking for something a little different.
