Denby Unknown Pattern 04a (Textured Blue) represents a more experimental direction from Denby Pottery, moving away from their more familiar painted and banded designs towards a focus on texture and surface finish.

The exterior features a rich, deep blue glaze with a tactile, dimpled texture, accented by rows of lighter dots which add both visual contrast and depth. This is paired with a smooth, pale interior, creating a pleasing balance between bold exterior and practical usability.

Designs such as this are often the result of smaller production runs or studio-led experimentation, where Denby explored alternative finishes and decorative techniques outside of their core ranges.

As with many lesser documented or short-run designs, availability is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market, and pieces can be relatively uncommon.

Do you know the name of this design? It is a bit of a departure for Denby from their usual lines with a heavily textured exterior and thicker glaze. If you do happen to know its name we would love to hear from you!

These more unusual pieces offer something a little different for collectors and those looking to add a distinctive touch to their Denby collection.
