Denby Unknown Pattern 02a (Rondo shape) is one of a number of lesser documented designs produced by Denby Pottery, most likely during the late 1970s or early 1980s when a wide variety of glaze combinations were explored on established shapes.

Produced on the well known Rondo shape, the design features a distinctive banded glaze with a dark brown outer rim, moving through green and blue tones before settling into a soft pale centre. While it shares characteristics with other Denby ranges from the period, the colouring is notably greener than typically seen, and appears consistently across pieces.

This consistency suggests it is not simply a variation or second, but rather a defined, if lesser known, production run or colourway.

As with many discontinued and less widely recorded Denby designs, availability is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market, and pieces can be relatively hard to find.

Do you know the name of this design? It is on the Rondo shape but the colouring is greener than we would typically expect. If you do happen to know its name we would love to hear from you!

These subtle differences and the mystery around its origins are very much part of the appeal for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
