Denby Unknown Pattern 00a (Sahara-style) is one of a number of designs produced by Denby Pottery during the 1960s and 1970s which share similar glaze characteristics but are not always clearly documented or easily identified today.

The design features a soft yellow or ochre centre, framed by a darker mottled brown rim, giving it a warm and rustic appearance typical of Denby’s stoneware from this period. It bears similarities to patterns such as Sahara, although the exact combination of tones and finish suggests it may be a lesser-known variant or short production run.

During this era, Denby produced a wide range of glaze-led designs, sometimes with subtle variations or limited distribution, which can make precise identification difficult many years later.

As with many discontinued and lesser documented patterns, availability is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market, and pieces can be relatively hard to find.

Do you know the name of this design? It is similar to Sahara but with a more yellowy background and mottled rim. If you do happen to know its name we would love to hear from you!

These subtle differences and the mystery around its origins are very much part of the charm of collecting vintage Denby.
