Denby Savoy was introduced in 1982 as part of Denby’s Chateau Collection, a range developed to offer a lighter, more refined style of stoneware inspired by European, particularly French, influences. Savoy is widely regarded as one of the defining designs within the collection and helped set the tone for those that followed.
The pattern features a simple yet evocative landscape scene, with a dark silhouetted tree, gently rolling hills and a small cottage with a distinctive red roof. This illustrative approach gives Savoy a storytelling quality that sets it apart from many other Denby designs of the period.
Produced on the Chateau shape, the range combines softer, more delicate forms with Denby’s trademark durability, making it both practical and visually appealing.
Although it was not in production for a long period, Savoy proved extremely popular and remains highly sought after today. Certain pieces, particularly plates in excellent condition, can be difficult to source due to years of regular use.
As a now discontinued pattern, Denby Savoy is popular with those looking for replacement china to complete or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as stock is dependent on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
