Denby Reflections was introduced in 1985 as part of Denby’s Artisan Collection and designed by Claire Bernard, one of the key designers behind several popular Denby patterns of the period. The range remained in production for a relatively short time, typically cited as running through the latter half of the 1980s.
The design features a finely detailed floral arrangement, often described as a daisy-style pattern, set against a soft sky blue background with subtle brown flecking. This gives the range a gentle, almost hand-finished appearance, balancing decoration with the natural tones typical of Denby’s stoneware.
An earlier version of Reflections exists with a white background to plates and bowls, before the more widely recognised blue ground became standard. These variations sit comfortably alongside one another, with the shared floral design and overall palette maintaining a consistent look across the range.
As part of the Artisan Collection, Reflections shares its shapes and overall styling approach with other designs from the same period, combining practical forms with decorative surface detail. The range was produced as a full service, including plates, bowls, cups and a variety of serving pieces, suitable for everyday use.
Now discontinued, Denby Reflections remains a popular choice for those looking to replace or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, particularly given its relatively short production run, as stock depends on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
When matching Denby Reflections, it is worth noting that variations can occur in the tone of the blue glaze, the depth of the speckling and the detail of the floral pattern. Pieces with a white background may also be found alongside the blue version. These differences are typical of the range and allow items from different production runs to sit together naturally.
