Denby Praline was introduced in 2011 as part of Denby’s modern tableware offering, reflecting a move towards deeper, more expressive glaze effects combined with refined, contemporary forms. The range remained in production until its discontinuation in 2019, making it a relatively recent addition to Denby’s long history.
The design is defined by its distinctive mottled glaze, which blends shades of chocolate brown with lighter, textured highlights to create a layered, almost flowing appearance across the surface. This reactive style of glazing gives each piece a slightly individual finish, with subtle differences in tone and patterning that add to the overall character of the range.
Praline was produced on bold, modern shapes with smooth profiles and gently curved lines, allowing the glaze to take centre stage. The combination of form and finish gives the range a contemporary feel, while still retaining the durability and practicality associated with Denby stoneware.
As with many Denby designs, Praline was produced as a full service, including plates, bowls, mugs and a variety of serving pieces, making it suitable for both everyday use and more considered table settings.
Now discontinued, Denby Praline is increasingly sought after by those looking to replace or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as stock depends on what becomes available in the pre-loved market.
When matching Denby Praline, it is worth noting that variations in the depth of colour and the pattern of the glaze are to be expected. These differences are a natural result of the reactive glazing process and form part of the appeal of the design, allowing pieces to sit together comfortably while each retaining a slightly unique finish.
