Denby / Langley Mayflower was introduced in the mid 1960s as part of The Natural Homemaker series produced at Langley Pottery, which by this time was already under the ownership of Denby. The design features a bold, stylised floral spray in warm earthy tones, reflecting the rustic and practical aesthetic that defined the collection.
Early production pieces typically carry the Langley backstamp, while later examples were marked Denby. It is also quite common to find unmarked pieces, particularly within serving and oven to table ware. These variations relate only to production periods, and the pieces themselves remain consistent in design and use.
Mayflower was produced over a number of years, resulting in a wide and varied range of shapes and items. As with many long running designs of this era, minor variations in size can occasionally be found, particularly with items such as teacups produced across different production runs.
The Natural Homemaker series also included closely related designs such as Denby Canterbury, Denby Chatsworth, and the green toned Sherwood, all produced on similar shapes with differing colourways and motifs.
As a now discontinued pattern, Mayflower is sought after by those looking for replacement china to complete or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the piece, as supply is dependent on what becomes available in the pre loved market.
