Denby Harlequin was the first issue in a range of Casual Tableware designs introduced in 1992. The pattern makes use of multiple strong colourways, including crimson, blue and green, allowing for a lively and varied table setting.
The range was produced across a wide selection of items, enabling customers to build a complete and coordinated service while also mixing colours to create a more individual look. Harlequin mugs proved particularly popular, with a number of distinctive shapes produced, including the Tudor and Footed styles.
One characteristic of the original Harlequin design is its darker glazed surfaces, particularly on flatware, which can be more prone to visible signs of use over time. As a result, plates and bowls are often harder to find in very good or excellent condition.
A related design, Denby Harlequin Lite, uses similar colour tones but features white backgrounds and interiors rather than the darker fully glazed finish. This later variation offers a lighter appearance and can be easier to maintain in higher condition.
As a discontinued Denby pattern, Harlequin remains popular with those looking to replace or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the item and condition, as supply is dependent on what becomes available on the pre-loved market.
We regularly source Denby Harlequin from the pre-loved market, so availability changes frequently.
