Denby Gourmet was introduced in 1974 and designed by Kurt Franzen, forming part of Denby’s move towards more contemporary and graphic designs during the 1970s. It should not be confused with an earlier Denby pattern of the same name, making this later version particularly important to identify correctly when matching pieces.
The design is characterised by its bold circular banding, produced in two main colourways: a soft vanilla background with chocolate brown rings, and an inverted version featuring a chocolate ground with contrasting vanilla rings. This simple but effective design gives the range a strong visual identity while remaining versatile for everyday use.
Gourmet was produced across a wide selection of items, including cookware and serving pieces as well as standard tableware, making it a practical and adaptable range for both cooking and dining.
The pattern reflects the influence of European design trends of the period, with an emphasis on clean lines, contrast and functional form.
As a discontinued Denby design, Gourmet is sought after by collectors and by those looking to replace or extend an existing set. Availability can vary depending on the item and colourway, as supply is dependent on what becomes available on the pre-loved market.
We regularly source Denby Gourmet from the pre-loved market, so availability changes frequently.
