Burlington was produced in the contemporary style rather than in the more traditional manner often associated with Albert Colledge’s work. It is particularly recognisable for its ribbed, ridged texture, with evenly spaced horizontal bands running around each piece, giving the range a sculptural quality and a distinctive feel in the hand.

The design was originally issued in matt black decorated with white, vertical broken lines, and was later also produced in turquoise-blue and in multi-coloured pastel shades. More rarely, some pieces were decorated with vertical bands of geometric pattern, adding further variety to the range.

Although Burlington was produced primarily as decorative ware, it also included a limited selection of tableware and giftware items such as cups, cruet sets and trays. This combination of practical forms and strongly decorative styling makes it especially appealing to collectors of mid-century Denby.

As a now discontinued and relatively early Denby design, Burlington is of particular interest to collectors, especially given its distinctive texture, unusual decoration and late 1950s styling. Availability can be limited, with certain items and colourways appearing only occasionally on the pre-loved market.

We regularly source Denby Burlington from the pre-loved market, so availability changes frequently.
