Part of the same broader collection as Castile and Seville, Avignon reflects the more decorative direction Denby explored during the 1970s, with a smaller floral motif and a gentler overall look than some of the company’s bolder designs of the period.

It was produced on elegant Denby shapes and offered a lighter, more refined alternative within the Renaissance range, appealing to those looking for a more delicate table setting.

Although it was not as widely adopted as some of its better-known contemporaries, Avignon has a quiet charm and is now of particular interest to collectors and to those seeking replacement china.
